From a Talk by Will Wright with My Own Perspective

While discussing the usability testing of The SIMS, Will noticed that his users filled the world they saw before them with a much richer meaning than the developers could provide. As users encountered a bug wherein the SIM would walk into the wall and remain there for a moment they would find meaning for action. They would fill up the world of the SIMS with meaning that wasn't there by design. Meaning that arose from within themselves and there own world view of the SIMS world.

"There are no coincidences," someone tells me. Something happens and they find meaning in it. If we except that we created the meaning then I am down with the idea. If we suppose an external meaning we have discovered or that has been revealed then I believe we are mistaken.
