Notes from the Paper Journal, Chicago, Summer 2005

[I'll never catch up with planting the paper notes I make here. But still I'll drop some in from time to time.]

Walking. Too much, too fast. Until today I have been walking like a madman. On a sedentary workday at home I cover at least 3 miles. Here I have done dozens a day at a fast pace. My feet know it. Blistered here, there, there and here too. It was as if I didn't have the time I do have, as if each day were my last and there would be another neighborhood I didn't get to see. Now my feet and mind reel and tell me, "you went too fast, you saw a lot but you did not see it well." Time has come to slow down, relax, turn forty-three and breathe in the being of being here.
