Try/Hard Do/Easy

Why is it that we try to do the things we think are good for us, and continuously fail, while not doing the things we enjoy that might give the same results as those we try and fail at?

I enjoy yoga, still I try to work out at the gym with weights. There was a time when the weight routine worked for me. Today it is an effort to motivate myself to that end. Yoga, which I enjoy, leads to many of the same results as weight training. Yet I don’t practice yoga regularly now.

This is only an example. I am sure you can find your own equivalent practice. I am also sure you are trying to do one when you could easily do the other.
