The time of the supremacy, in US-based corporations, of management interests over the interests of owners will be coming to end over the coming years. With this ending will come the end of accountants as the key managers. The greatest benefit of that change will be an end to the insistence that everything be quantified and counted.
As annual review time approaches for many of you working for some corporate body, I say to you, "Measurement isn't everything and I recommend you do not yield to measurement. You are greater, richer and more varied than any accountancy can describe with any metric."
