The leaves they are a’ changing.

I truly love autumn. The crispening air, the blustery winds, the variable sized rain drops, the nature of light, the shortening days, the lengthening nights, the likelihood of gatherings; all of these and much more contribute to that deep love affair. Today, I noticed as if the change had only happened today, the coloring of the leaves. Here in the pacific northwest such things are subtle and far less varied than the changing leaves of my birthplace back east. I suppose that somewhere below the conscious mind are a range of subconscious ‘reasons’ to love the autumn. Perhaps I should make such the object of this evenings meditation.

Until then I shall work away my day for a wage, I shall take a small walk in the October air, I shall enjoy the sunlight streaming through the blinds.
