True, but then why is a book like
All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten
so popular?

People want to distill complex issues down into simple easy to understand bites (social calculus in effect). That it breaks down in 20% of the cases, or 10%, or 5% means little when it works in 80%+ of the cases. The problem, of course, is what to do in those 20% of the cases. They require 80% of the work by the 80-2 rule.
